November is one of the most rewarding months to visit Haridwar. The monsoon crowds are gone, the air is crisp and clear, the Ganga runs calm and luminous, and the most sacred snan of the post-monsoon calendar -- Kartik Purnima -- falls in this month. If you are planning a spiritual trip or a quiet riverside escape, November delivers both.

November Weather in Haridwar
November marks the transition from mild autumn to early winter. Temperatures drop noticeably in the second half of the month, especially after sunset.
| Period | Day Temp | Night Temp | Conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early Nov (1-10) | 24-28 deg C | 12-15 deg C | Sunny, dry, comfortable |
| Mid Nov (11-20) | 20-24 deg C | 8-12 deg C | Clear days, cool nights |
| Late Nov (21-30) | 16-21 deg C | 5-9 deg C | Crisp mornings, colder nights |
What this means for you: Daytime sightseeing is pleasant throughout November. Aarti attendance in the evenings will feel cold without layers, and mornings near the Ganga -- especially around Kartik Purnima snan time -- can dip below 8 deg C.
Rainfall is rare in November. The IMD records fewer than 5 mm total precipitation on average for this month across the Haridwar district. Check current forecasts at the India Meteorological Department before you travel.
What to Pack for a November Visit
Pack in two layers: a daylight layer for warm afternoons and a cold-weather layer for evenings and early mornings. Both will be needed on the same day.
Essentials:
- One or two light jackets or fleece pullovers
- Full-sleeve shirts or kurtas for temple visits
- Woollen socks and closed shoes for evening ghats
- A shawl or stole for Ganga aarti and snan mornings
- Sunscreen -- November sun is still strong between 10 AM and 3 PM
For Kartik Purnima snan: If you plan the pre-dawn dip, pack dry change of clothes in a waterproof bag. The ghat area is extremely crowded at 4:30-5:30 AM on snan day and lockers fill early.

Kartik Purnima Snan: The Main Event in November
Kartik Purnima falls on 24 November this year. It is the most auspicious snan of the Kartik month and one of the major bathing events in the Hindu calendar outside of Kumbh years. Pilgrims from across Uttarakhand, UP and Delhi converge on Har Ki Pauri in the pre-dawn hours.
The snan muhurat is before sunrise -- Brahma Muhurta on 24 November begins around 4:30 AM. Most pilgrims take the dip between 4:30 and 6:00 AM IST.
For a complete guide to the snan date, muhurat, ghats and what to expect, read our dedicated post: Kartik Purnima Snan Haridwar: Date, Muhurat and Guide.
If you are visiting specifically for this snan, book your stay at least 3-4 weeks in advance. Hotels and dharamshalas in the Haridwar city area fill up fully in the days around Kartik Purnima.
Other Snan Dates in November
November has several minor snan dates beyond Kartik Purnima. The Ganga Snan calendar in Haridwar covers the full list of auspicious tithi snan dates. Ekadashi (both Devuthani Ekadashi and Kartik Ekadashi depending on the Panchang) and Pradosh Vrat snan days also see elevated footfall at the ghats.
Crowd Levels and Pricing in November
November sits in a sweet spot. The Navratri and Dussehra peak of October has cleared, and the December-January cold has not yet driven away casual visitors.
- Early November: Moderate crowds. A good window for quiet darshan and ghat visits.
- Kartik Purnima week (20-25 Nov): Very heavy crowds at ghats and temples, especially Har Ki Pauri, Kushavart Ghat and Brahmakund.
- Post-Purnima (26-30 Nov): Drops sharply. One of the quieter windows of the year.
Accommodation rates in Haridwar city tend to rise 20-40% in the week of Kartik Purnima and drop immediately after. Staying a few kilometres outside the city centre, in areas like Bahadrabad, keeps you away from the gridlock while remaining accessible by auto or cab.

What Is Open in November
Everything is open in November. Unlike the monsoon months when some riverside paths become slippery or unsafe, November conditions are ideal for all ghat visits, temple climbs and day trips.
Temples: All major temples -- Mansa Devi, Chandi Devi, Maya Devi, Daksha Mahadev -- are open with regular hours. Ropeway queues at Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi are shorter than in October.
River conditions: The Ganga is calm and at normal flow after the monsoon surge recedes by mid-October. Water temperatures in November are cold (14-18 deg C) but manageable for a ritual dip.
Day trips: November is the best month for a day trip to Rishikesh before the December cold sets in. The Laxman Jhula and Ram Jhula route from Haridwar takes 45-55 minutes by road.
For a full season comparison, the Best Time to Visit Haridwar guide covers every month side by side.
